Now we can Say we are Cruisers !!!

First night on the hook.. in our own boat.  with everything we own (well most..nice try Owen)..  We are in a very sheltered bay, with hills climbing all directions around us..  many boats, but most setting out for hurricane season…
We are on the island of Culebra, off the east coast of Puerto Rico… you can see St. Thomas in the USVI from here..The breeze goes through the Whole boat..  there is no comparison to a marina..  air conditioning is not required out here..  its 80F+ at 8pm, but the humidity is low (in our mind), and the breeze is steady..  super comfy..

Anchor set first time, very nice having so much chain to work with.. this boat is made to anchor out ‘all the time’

That saves $20 – $40 a night paying for a mooring ball..  a preset hung of who-knows-what, someone sunk and put a floating ball on…  ha…  don’t laugh.. its a little too close to the truth!!

Had a very good night ‘sail (into the wind)’.. we left at midnight from San Juan..  heading directly into the wind all night..  it was fairly low winds (leaving at night BONUS!), but this is the ocean, a few rollers dictated the items below that were not stowed correctly..  not many.. Robin has this art mastered..  I was drilling hooks on the wall at 11pm, before we left to secure her Baskets!!!

Love this place..  it just feels right..  sound of water, gently washing against the hull..  full sky of stars, with no city lights..  air is as clean as it can be I’m sure…

Pico has his sea legs now… loves dingy rides to go “P”, over on a small island near us…

Tomorrow, we are renting a Jeep, and exploring the island..  I’ve never rented a Jeep without a story, so keep tuned in!!!
